Martin's is a free restaurant and community of hospitality rooted in compassion, understanding, and love. Every person who comes through our doors is welcomed as a guest and treated with respect.
We receive no government funding and have no paid staff. The work continues because volunteers show up, donors give personally, and the community believes this kind of place should exist.
Learn more about Martin's historyA full lunch is served Monday through Saturday in our dining room. Meals are often vegetarian, frequently vegan, and always offered in the spirit of dignity and welcome.
Lunch is served from 12 PM to 2 PM. Takeaway is available for guests who bring a container.
Guests can access showers on a first-come, first-served basis. The service is part of how Martin's offers care, privacy, and respect.
Showers are available on weekdays beginning at 10 AM and run through the lunch period.
Hospitality is part of every service at Martin's. People are known by name, welcomed without conditions, and treated as beloved guests.
Long-time volunteers and returning guests shape a calm, personal environment.
Simple acts of service become a daily welcome: flowers on the tables, warm food, showers, and a garden held open for rest.

Every gift goes directly to our guests. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on individual generosity. Martin's is a 501(c)(3) — all donations are tax-deductible. We send handwritten thank you notes to all donors.

We accept produce, bread, and other ingredients that we can incorporate into our meals. Please email us at info@martindeporres.org before making any food donation. We also accept clothes to distribute to guests.
Thank you for considering us as a place to serve others — Martin's is staffed entirely by volunteers and relies on the community to help serve our guests. If the gate is not open, ring the doorbell at the door to the left of the gate and somebody will let you in.
We welcome lunch volunteers Monday to Saturday, from 9 AM to 3 PM. If you can't do the whole shift, that's not a problem; we appreciate any support you can offer. No sign-up or advance notice is required — just show up!
We welcome small groups of one-time volunteers, though we can only accommodate up to 4 people at once. We ask larger groups to split up across multiple shifts. Please email us or call 415-552-0240 before bringing a group.
